Let’s be honest—motivation isn’t something you’re born with. It’s not something that magically shows up every morning when the alarm goes off. Even after all these years of working out, building programs, and coaching clients, I still have days where I don’t feel like doing it.
So what keeps me going? What keeps me showing up—day after day, week after week?
Here’s the truth: I don’t rely on motivation. I rely on commitment.
Motivation is fleeting. It comes and goes depending on your mood, your stress, your sleep, your hormones. But commitment? That’s a choice I make daily.
Here are a few things that help me stay committed and inspired—and I hope they help you too:
I don’t train just to “look good.” I train because I want to feel strong, energized, capable, and healthy—for myself and for the people I love. That deeper purpose is what gets me moving, especially on the days when motivation is nowhere to be found.
And as I get older, I’ll be honest—one of my biggest reasons is this: I don’t want my son to have to take care of me later in life. I want to stay independent, active, and able for as long as possible. And that starts with how I take care of myself today.
2. I set up my environment for success.
My workouts are in my calendar just like any other important appointment—because they are that important. My gear is ready. My meals are prepped. I don’t sit around waiting for the “perfect time”—I create the space to show up, even on the messy, chaotic days.
I’ve even set up my workout room to be as inspiring as possible, complete with my WEGYMFIT weights rack. Let’s be honest, a space that looks good makes you want to be in it—and that makes all the difference.
3. I follow a program that’s actually DOABLE and designed for results.
If you're just winging it every week, it’s no wonder motivation drops. Following a real plan—like the one you’re doing now—gives you structure, direction, and the satisfaction of progress. That’s where momentum builds.
4. I focus on the big picture.
One off day doesn’t define me. One skipped workout doesn’t undo my progress. I zoom out and look at the week, the month, the year—and remind myself that showing up more often than not is what makes the difference.
So if you’re feeling like your motivation is fading, remember: you’re not alone. It’s okay to not feel fired up every single day. But don’t quit. Do the work anyway. Because every time you choose to keep going, you strengthen your discipline—and that becomes the new “motivation.”
Keep showing up. Keep taking action. Keep becoming the version of you that doesn’t just wait for motivation—but builds it through momentum.
You've got this—I'm right here with you.
